Is DD Cream next?

We’ve all heard of BB cream at this point – that amazing makeup that acts as a moisturizer, anti-aging treatment, SPF and has an amazing sheer coverage. This miracle cream also helps even your skin tone, treats acne and brightens your skin. I have tried BB creams from Garnier, Maybelline and Smashbox and I’ve been quite pleased with all three.

I had heard about BB cream years and years ago before it was even in the United States, back when it was only in Asia. Now I’m waiting for a new product called CC Cream. Yes, they actually made a CC Cream! This cream is like an amped up BB Cream – it has all of the same benefits but just more powerful. It also has a fuller coverage so it acts a little more like a foundation. Moreover, it can be used as a primer if you want a complete full coverage face!

This wonder cream is in Korea now and is slowly making its way to the states. Chanel and some other high end brands has a CC Cream that is still only available in Asia (not for long though!) Sometime this October Olay will come out with its own CC Cream! I will most definitely be picking up some of Olay’s CC Cream right when it comes out!

Do you think CC Cream will be that much better than BB Cream?? I can’t wait to find out :)

Bagel Heads...WHAT?!?

I was just watching E! News and, let me tell you, what I just saw was a little disturbing. I’m all for piercings and tattoos; whatever you want to do to your body or put on your body, I won’t be one to judge. However, the newest ‘body art’ in Japan has me a little freaked. The new trend is called “bagel heads.” Now you’re probably thinking ‘what does that even mean?!’ It is EXACTLY how it sounds.

People’s heads are now being hooked to an IV and a circle swells up on the forehead. The process takes about 2 hours. Once it is done, a finger is put into the center of the swelling to create the look of an actual bagel. I don’t know about you but this process sounds pretty dangerous to me… THANK THE LORD this only lasts from 16-24 hours because when I first heard about this I thought the bagel was permanent! Still….FREAKY!!

Tell me what you think about this new trend – would you ever try it??? Do you think it'll make it over to the United States anytime soon?! (I hope not!)

Health Kick: 1 Minute Apple Pie

Quick, easy, healthy AND yummy apple pie?! You heard it! This doesn’t include the crust but it tastes just like the center of a warm apple pie! First, slice up an apple (the best are honeycrisp apples!)

Next sprinkle some cinnamon (did you know cinnamon helps raise your metabolism and lowers LDL/bad cholesterol?!) and a packet of powdered stevia on top (I don’t usually use the whole stevia packet – but if you like sugar then by all means put it all on there!) Pop it in the microwave for about a minute (or until the apples are completely warmed through and fairly soft), turning the plate halfway through the cook time.

All that’s left now is to enjoy! Happy fall :)

Metallic Cap Toe/Haute Look

I love all the trends for this season: spikes, leather, lace….but one style that has recently stood out to me is metallic cap-toe shoes! At first I didn’t even think that they’d be considered a big trend but whenever I go to the city or go into stores for my job, I see them EVERYWHERE! Metallic cap-toes are such an easy way to dress up some simple flats or a pair of black pumps. This new trend also gives an edgier and more fashion forward vibe to any pair of shoes. Here are some of my favorite (low-end and high-end) metallic cap-toe shoes:

(1. Lulu’s $29.00; 2. ShoeDazzle $39.95; 3. Vince Camuto $149.00; 4. Tory Burch $265.00; 5. Alice + Olivia $465.00)

If you don’t own a pair of these I seriously advise you go get some! They can make any simple t-shirt and jeans look much trendier!

On a side note: I just made my first purchase from Haute Look (the BEST flash sale site I’ve ever found!) I been shopping on this site for months now but I finally made an actual purchase (a pair of Kelsi shearling booties!) They sell so many different products: men, women, children, shoes, accessories, booties, home decor… you name it! The products range from high-to-low end and, the BEST part, is the prices are up to 75% off!

You have to go check out this site if you haven’t already! I can’t wait to get my booties in the mail! (www.hautelook.com)

Blake Lively: Style Icon

Blake lively has quickly become household name and a style icon. From her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants days through the Gossip Girl TV show, she has always caught my eye. Designers LOVE to dress her and we LOVE to follow her.  Blake connects with the public fashion-wise because her outfits aren’t too wild & crazy. She always looks classic and put together and we, the public, are very likely to wear similar outfits. But how do we get similar looks for less money?! Here are some ideas:

First Look: Skirt (Tobi $38), Vest (H&M $34.95), Tank (Buckle $40), Heels (Dorothy Perkins $95), Necklace (Akira $14.90), Purse (Amazon $50)

Second Look: Free People ($95),  Blazer (SheInside $43), Sweater (Dorothy Perkins ($29), Tights (DSW $15), Necklace (Brandy Melville $6), Bag (Coat $378), Shoes (Charlotte Russe $46)

One more thing Blake is known for is her hair: beachy and long! To get this hair, remember to condition the ends since long hair can tend to look dry and stringy (I like to use the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque). To get the beachy look, spray some sea salt spray (my favorite is Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray). Remember, this look is supposed to look messy – no need for perfection!

Blake’s style continues to impress me – what is your favorite look of hers?

Making the Switch!

Since it’s starting to get chilly (at least it is here in the Midwest) it’s that time to purge your closet and switch it from spring/summer to fall/winter! I just completed this little project of my own and, let me just say, my closet seems a hundred times fuller than before (chunky sweaters and puffy jackets take up a lot more room than tank tops!) Switching out your closets takes only about an hour or two and can really get you into the fall spirit! Plus, it makes it that much easier to find outfits for that particular season (no more digging through trunks of clothes hidden in the back of your closet!)

So, what is the best way to switch out your closets? What do you keep and what do you stow away? It’s simple! First thing to do is go through your closet and make three piles: summer clothes you DEFINITELY won’t wear again until it gets warm, clothes you’re not quite sure if you want to put away yet, and a giveaway pile. Keep the clothes that you will wear this season hanging in your closet.

Next, take your winter clothes out of storage and hang them up! Once you figure out how much extra room there is in your closet you can start going through the pile you’re not sure of. Remember: fall/winter is the perfect time for layering clothes: tanks & cardigans, denim button downs & sweaters. If there is anything you could possibly layer this season, hang that on up in your closet too! Once you’ve gone through this pile you can start folding the summer clothes pile into storage and give the third pile to a consignment store (Plato’s Closet) or donation store (Goodwill).

Now picking out an outfit for chilly days is that much simpler since your warm pieces are all in one place! Just take a small portion out of your day and switch out your sundresses for your fur vests.

You’ll be thankful you did!

FALLing into autumn

Today is FINALLY the first day of fall!!!! Red & gold leaves, crisp weather, yummy smells & rich colors are the essence of my favorite season. I only thought it was appropriate to celebrate the new season by writing a new blog. So, in spirit of the official autumn season, I am going to share a few of my favorite ‘things’. :)

Fashion:
Fall fashion is hands down my favorite. It’s not too cold and not too hot, so you can get away with many different outfit choices. I also love fall fashion because if you just throw on a chunky sweater, some jeans or leggings and some riding boots, you’re ready to go for the day! It’s an EASY season to dress for (and not to mention soooo comfy!)
Here are a few of my staple fall pieces:

Beauty:
Fall is a season to add some darker and richer colors to your beauty routine. My usual eye shadows consist of chocolate browns and coppers. Two of my favorite eye shadow palettes are the Urban Decay Naked Palette and the Maybelline eye shadow quad in Cozy Cashmere.

As for lip products, lipsticks and lip stains are just the thing for fall. Dark berry reds are my all time favorites this season. My favorite lipstick is Beautiful Berry by E.L.F. (and it’s only $5!!!) I also love the Just Bitten Kissable Lipstains by Revlon in Crush.

And who can forget the nailpolish?! I love extremely dark nail polishes (so dark that they almost look black). Dark reds, purples, and navy blues are perfection. (P.S. more to come on my favorite fall/winter nail polishes!)

Random:
Some fun items to get you in the fall mood are pumpkin spice lattes, Gloria Jean pumpkin flavored coffee,  pumpkin spice Hershey Kisses, and Bath & Body Works candles (Leaves & Pumpkin Cupcake are constantly burning at my house).

What are your favorite fall products??

Leather on leather on PLeather!

Everywhere you look, leather is on one person or another (and when I say leather I’m referencing real leather, faux leather, liquid leather, or any type of leather form you can imagine). Whether that is liquid leather leggings, a leather bomber jacket, leather booties, or even leather-like nail polish, it can always make an appearance in an outfit some way or another.

My personal favorite is leather pants (have you seen Kim Kardashian lately?!). They scream edgy and sexy but can be dressed down with a simple baggy sweater and moto boots. Leather pants are also a great way to dress up a simple peplum top and pair it with a chunky necklace – a simple outfit that can make such a statement this fall!

However, you can never go wrong with a leather bomber jacket. Throw it on over a floral sundress and you’re good to go! Since we are getting into the colder months though, a floral sundress will most likely be out of the question. So how about pairing the leather jacket with some jeans, a plain white t-shirt and a scarf. To others it will look as if you had taken a little bit of time to put this look together when in reality you just wanted a simple yet stylish look.

If you’re obsessed with leather, like myself, then you will have multiple leather pieces in your wardrobe: pants, tops, jackets, shoes, accessories, etc. How can you choose which leather piece to wear that day? The great thing is, you don’t have to choose JUST one. Layering leather this fall is definitely on trend (and will keep you warmer too!)

Check out these maroon leather J Brand pants from Bloomingdales:
Or a less-expensive alternative from Forever 21:

Welcome Message :)

Now, what on earth do coffee and stilettos have in common? Well, to be honest, absolutely nothing. So why did I name this blog “Coffee in Stilettos?!” (other than the fact that I love both J) – I decided on this name because it mixes a simplistic staple in everyday life (coffee) with a little bit of glamour (stilettos). This blog will consist of a plethora of articles consisting of fashion advice, current trends, shopping hauls, favorite makeup looks/products, beauty tutorials, and everyday life interests such as recipes and home decorating.

I can’t live without my morning coffee, and if you can’t either, then fill up your favorite leopard print coffee mug, throw on a pair of your most prized Louboutins (or just stay in fluffy slippers) and get entranced in the world of fashion, beauty and everyday lifestyle.
